Why is it better
than a diaphragm pump?
The IDP-3 pump is
compact
It
is only the size of a diaphragm pump.
The IDP-3 pump
delivers a much better base pressure
It
delivers a base pressure of 250 millitorr, which is 4 times
lower than that of a typical diaphragm pump. In applications
where the high-vacuum pump is a turbopump, the lower base
pressure results in lower bearing temperatures and lower power
consumption in the turbo. Lower bearing temperature makes for
a more reliable system.
The IDP-3 pump is
rugged
There is nothing in the pump that can fail catastrophically.
The membrane in a diaphragm pump has a limited life, and, when
it fails, rapid inrush of air results.
